Description: Cette imposante composition abstraite a été créée par l'artiste américain Michael Steiner. Il était l'un des membres éminents de la célèbre école de Bennington, une collection d'artistes abstraits associée au collège d'arts libéraux de Bennington, dans le Vermont. Cette gravure à l'encre expressive : des marques noires sur fond neutre sont ponctuées de rose vif, de jaune, de rouge foncé et d'orange.
En 1984, quatorze artistes ont créé des œuvres d'art dans le cadre d'une exposition conçue pour célébrer l'influent artiste abstrait canadien Jack Bush. « L'héritage de Jack Bush » était une exposition soigneusement organisée d'œuvres d'artistes qui ont été inspirés, encadrés ou qui ont travaillé avec Bush. L’exposition circule à travers le Québec et l’Ontario après la mort de Bush. C'est une de ces pièces.

Né en 1945 à New York, Steiner a étudié l'art en tant qu'étudiant. Il est connu pour sa peinture et son travail sculptural. Il a reçu une bourse Guggenheim en 1971. Les œuvres de Steiner se trouvent dans des collections du monde entier, notamment au Museum of Modern Art de New York, au Centre Georges Pompidou à Paris et à la Power Gallery of Contemporary Art de Sydney, en Australie. / This imposing abstract composition was created by American artist Michael Steiner. He was a leading member of the famed Bennington school—a collection of abstract artists associated with the liberal arts college in Bennington, Vermont. This expressive Ink etching—black markings against a neutral backdrop is punctuated by bright pink, yellow, dark red and orange.
In 1984, fourteen artists created artwork as part of an exhibition designed to celebrate the influential Canadian abstract artist Jack Bush. ‘The Heritage of Jack Bush’ was a carefully curated exhibition of work by artists who were inspired, mentored or who worked with Bush. The exhibition toured throughout Quebec and Ontario following Bush’s death. This is one of those pieces.

Born in 1945 in NYC, Steiner studied art as a student. He is known for his painting and his sculptural work. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1971. Steiner’s work can be found in collections all over the world including the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Power Gallery of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia.
