Description: L'artiste Dmitry Yuzefovich se souvient des détails, des couleurs, des textures et des images de sa vie en Ukraine. Utilisant avec brio la technique du trompe-l’œil, il crée des peintures nostalgiques et réalistes qui rappellent un passé riche et quelque peu mystérieux. La palette de couleurs vives de cette pièce attrayante – une collection de parapluies accrochés à des clous dans une entrée– attire immédiatement l’œil du spectateur. Le mur du fond est délabré : papier peint déchiré et délavé dans un vert tendre et marron; quelques chiffres apparaissent au hasard. Une petite radio à transistors se trouve sur une étagère métallique.
Né en Ukraine, Yuzefovich a obtenu un BFA de la Bezalel Academy of Art and Design de Jérusalem, Israël en 2000 et un MFA en 2005. Il a déménagé au Canada avec sa famille en 2015 et vit en Nouvelle-Écosse. Yuzefovich a exposé dans des expositions individuelles et collectives. Ses peintures ont été collectionnées en Israël, au Canada, aux États-Unis, en Angleterre et en Europe. / Artist Dmitry Yuzefovich remembers—details, colours, textures and images from his life in the Ukraine. Using a trompe l’oeil technique to great effect, he renders nostalgic and realistic paintings that recall a rich and somewhat mysterious past. The bright colour palette of this engaging piece—a collection of umbrellas hanging on nails in an entryway in blue, red, purple, burgundy and black immediately draws the viewer’s eye. The background wall is dilapidated—torn and faded wallpaper in a soft green and brown; a few numbers appear randomly stencilled on it. A small transistor radio sits on a metal shelf.

He moved to Canada with his family in 2015 and lives in Nova Scotia. Yuzefovich has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings have been collected in Israel, Canada, the US, England and Europe.
