His distinct treatment of light, using gentle radiant tones and contrasting fine brushstrokes gives a luxurious and detailed texture to the foliage, the animal furs, and feathers. Surrounded by zebras, panthers, monkeys and a tropical bird, a lion calmly lies down in the center, admiring its own reflection in the pond.
