Description
Matthew Pillsbury (b. 1973) is an American-based artist born in Neuilly, France. In 1995, Pillsbury uses only available light in his long-exposure photographs. Two of his major influences are the Hiroshi Sugimoto and Abelardo Morell. His work addresses the simultaneous seclusion and connectivity that is afforded by smartphones, tablets and laptops. Inspired by Sugimoto’s movie theatre photos, Pillsbury began his Screen Lives series in 2004.
