Description
Neo-expressionist Eric Fischl (b. 1948) is one of the most well-known contemporary American artists. His paintings, sculptures, printmaking and draughtsman, often depicting both the mundane and the darker undertones of American suburbia. His art education began at Phoenix College, followed by Arizona State University. He received his BFA at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California in 1972, after which he moved to Chicago. Untitled (1997) is part of Fischl’s beach watercolour series began in the late 1970s by one of the most significant American painters of nudes and figurative works today. Beginning with photographs the artist takes himself this series depicts life at the beach: relaxation, games, even bordering on uproarious.
