Created in 1974, this painting by John Fox (1927-2008) marked the start of a dramatic chapter for the artist. Inspired by the colour and light of Venice, Fox's early Intimist inspired interior scenes gave way to joyous abstraction. Fox attended McGill University, the École des Beaux-arts de Montréal and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, School of Art and Design. His artwork is held in many private, corporate and public collections including the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the MacKenzie Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Museum London, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.
